About
The South Metro Safety Foundation’s Youth Safety Class is a fun, interactive course designed to help young people build the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to stay safe when they are home alone and becoming more independent.
Designed for students ages 11 and older, this full-day class combines hands-on activities, discussion, and practical instruction covering many of the situations youth may encounter at home or in the community.
Students will learn:
Home safety and how to recognize potential hazards
Fire safety and prevention
Kitchen and cooking safety
How and when to call 911
Emergency communication and what information to provide
Weather emergencies and how to respond
Bicycle and helmet safety
Basic First Aid
CPR and AED skills
How to make safe decisions when an adult is not immediately available
The course also includes CPR, AED, and First Aid training, giving students practical emergency-response skills they can use at home, at school, and in the community.
Our goal is for every student to leave class feeling more prepared, responsible, and confident as they begin taking on greater independence.
Students must be at least 11 years old at the time of class.
