About

Walking Tours are here again! Sample Oakland from towering redwoods to sparkling mosaics, from venerable neighborhoods to an enclave of hidden homes. Favorite tours are back, and new ones too. On our last Sunday, we fly with Dimond Park’s Wild Goose Qigong flock, and learn how community stewardship benefits Sausal Creek and the park. Join us as we learn about Oakland’s storied history and enrich our appreciation of what has made Oakland the diverse and welcoming city it is today.

Donation, day of tour: $15 OHA members, $20 nonmembers. Sign up for a membership or renewal the day of the tour and the tour is free. Please call the office to arrange use of a voucher. Some tours are space limited. Purchase in advance through Humanitix to secure your spot.  Please meet at least 15 minutes before the listed start times. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, wear sunscreen, bring water.

Parking regulations have changed, and no one wants a ticket! Some tours are starting earlier, and will move along briskly. A number of tours are easily reached by BART and bus!

OCHS: These tours are based in part on the research of the Oakland Cultural Heritage Survey, a project of the City Strategic Planning Division, and the resources of the Oakland History Center, Oakland Main Library.

These tours support the work of Oakland Heritage Alliance, a community-based non-profit. We are grateful for your support, however, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
