About
The 2026 Writers' Festival is an opportunity for the graduating Master of Theatre (Writing) students to present a moved reading of their work to the public.
There are five Master of Theatre (Writing) students in this current program of readings. Each play has been written to expresses their own unique voice. Since the start of Semester 2, the writers have focused on creating a play or performance text in a variety of forms that reflects their skill, inventiveness, courage, self-belief, dedication and capacity for sheer hard work. These works were developed through an in-depth writing and dramaturgical process that is seeded in Semester 1. During Semester 2, the works were then written, developed and dramaturged. We have also invited one PhD student, and three graduates to present readings of their current work
These presentations are a collaboration between postgraduate students in Writing, Directing and Dramaturgy, second year Acting students, volunteer students from the second year Theatre program, as well as some non-student external performers. A huge thank you to VCA Theatre staff, the Engagement and Partnerships team and the students for their assistance in making this event happen.
