About

The 2025 Writers' Festival is an opportunity for the graduating VCA Master of Theatre (Writing) students to present a moved reading of their work to the public.

There are 11 Master of Theatre (Writing) students in this current program of readings. Each writer has written a play in a form that best expresses their own unique voice. Since the start of Semester 2, each of the writers have focused on writing a play or performance text in a variety of forms that reflects their skill, inventiveness, courage, self-belief, dedication and capacity for sheer hard work. Each of these works have been developed through an in-depth writing and dramaturgical process that is seeded in Semester 1, then written, developed and dramaturged in Semester 2.

These presentations are a collaboration between Postgraduate Students in Writing, Directing, Dramaturgy and students from the second year Acting cohort, and volunteer students from the second year Theatre program, as well as some non-student external performers. A huge thank you to VCA Theatre staff, the Engagement and Partnerships team and the students for their assistance in making this event happen.
