Why this course

Over time, it is natural for skills and confidence to reduce without practice.

This refresher course supports you to revisit key concepts, strengthen your approach, and respond with clarity when supporting young people experiencing mental health challenges.

It is designed to help you stay current, confident, and effective in real conversations.

• Applying the Youth MHFA Action Plan in real situations
• Responding to young people experiencing mental health challenges
• Recognising signs and knowing how to act early
• Guiding conversations towards appropriate support
• Maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries

Course format

• 5-hour live, instructor-led online session
• Delivered via Zoom by an accredited Youth MHFA Instructor
• Interactive discussion and scenario-based learning
• Focused on practical skills revision and application

Time: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (AEST)

Who can attend

This course is for adults who have previously completed:

• The 14-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid course
• The Blended Youth Mental Health First Aid course

Completion must be within the last three years.

Accreditation

Participants who complete the refresher and accreditation assessment will extend their Youth Mental Health First Aid accreditation for a further three years.

Before you attend

To confirm eligibility:

• Provide a copy of your original YMHFA certificate, or
• Request verification through MHFA if your certificate is unavailable
