About
Honour the founding story of our School in its one hundredth year.
For our Centenary Founders’ Festival we have planned an incredible three-day celebration of love, honour and service, held across the weekend of Friday 8 May to Sunday 10 May.
From the first founders to the present day, the fabric of CGGS is made up of many ‘founders’—individuals whose commitment, dedication and steadfast efforts have realised a 100-year legacy of excellence, equality and engagement with the world.
Friday 8 May will include a moving whole-school ceremony and service, a maypole display, a teddy bear picnic and a series of lively yesteryear games set up across all corners of the campus—and of course, this year comes with cake! The entire CGGS student cohort will then take part in a special afternoon of service supporting local organisations, before our Founders’ Festival Choral Evensong welcomes our broader community and the annual Alumni Supper reconnects our Grammarians in the evening.
The festivities continue on Saturday 9 May, when students proudly wear a commemorative hair ribbon marking the Founders’ Day Sports Round while competing on the court, on the grass and in the net across the ACT.
That evening all in our community are invited to a twilight repertoire chiming in our new century—a bespoke 45min Centenary Carillon Recital taking place at the National Carillon. Pack a picnic basket and blanket—or purchase one of our exclusive Centenary picnic rugs—and enjoy a once in a century event with friends and family.
To conclude our weekend of festivities, Sunday 10 May will see our inaugural Run with Mum event, where all are invited to join the CGGS team lakeside for the Canberra Mother's Day Classic Fun Run. A custom pink ribbon will be gifted to all participants as we take the next step in our legacy of giving.
Register for these events and celebrate our 100 year legacy of educational excellence, connection and opportunity.
