About

Join Black Cat Theatre for the inaugural rendition of Crossing Paths, a new play festival where we invite multiple playwrights to "cross paths" with the same myth/central theme. The myth chosen for the inaugural festival is the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters.

Made possible by a grant from the Oak Park Area Arts Council, the Crossing Paths Festival will showcase the multifaceted beauty of adaptations. This festival will be made up of short plays (or excerpts of longer works) by 7 different playwrights (Annemarie Andaleon, Keegon Schuett, Skylar Tarnas, Jessica Posey, Taz Stahlnecker, Katherine Gwynn, and Madie Doppelt), centered around the same myth. The playwrights have been given a dramaturgy packet filled with information on the Pleiades, from a general overview of the myth to specific stories across cultures, to references to the Seven Sisters in art, music, and poetry.
