Coogee Lanterns Workshops and Parade 2025
Event description
Join us to learn how to make a paper and bamboo lantern, then light and display your lantern at sunset, as we gather for a parade at Coogee Beach on the evening of the Winter Solstice.
Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year. It symbolises the rebirth of the sun and the gradual return of light and warmth, bringing with it, the promise of spring. Many people take this time to reflect on the past year, express gratitude, and set intentions for the future. It's a beautiful opportunity for introspection and renewal amidst the stillness of winter.
Lighting lanterns on the night of the Winter Solstice represents warmth and light during the longest night of the year.
