Join Black Cat Theatre for a developmental reading of a brand new play by Jeff Award-winning playwright Brynne Frauenhoffer: Church Hurt.

Synopsis: When Mar moves into to her parents’ basement and gets hired to work as the technical director for the church she grew up in, she’s reunited with her onetime youth group besties Faith, who is now head of People Operations, and Julie, who now serves as an outspoken (and openly bisexual) volunteer with progressive goals. Though the three once bonded during Wednesday night carpools over Relient K songs and scripture, they now have to reconcile their very different faith journeys in the intervening years. Old wounds and new points of view disrupt their ministry efforts as queerness and the non-denominational movement collide.
