This presentation introduces CICA’s Career Development Service Benchmarking Resource, a quality improvement tool for all sectors that helps organisations assess how effectively they implement, maintain, and improve career development services.

It explains why the resource is needed in a rapidly changing world of work, where AI, automation, changing work patterns and more complex career pathways are reshaping what people need from career development support.

The presentation positions the Benchmarking Resource within Australia’s broader career development quality ecosystem, then walks participants through its five elements, fourteen outcomes and four-point maturity scale, showing how organisations can use a team-based review process and the Plan–Do–Study–Act cycle to identify strengths, set improvement priorities and build a culture of continuous improvement.

It also demonstrates how the resource can be adapted across schools, higher education, employment services, TAFEs and RTOs, private practice and community organisations.
