The Algal Bloom Shed was established by a group of volunteers in the wake of the major harmful algal bloom along South Australia's coast in 2025. What started as an algae problem quickly became a shared challenge — one that cuts across ecosystems, health, livelihoods and communities.
The Shed aims to harness collective intelligence to improve our understanding of the bloom and its ripple effects, prepare smarter responses to whatever rolls in next, and provide rapid uplift capability should the bloom surge again.
