About

If you're raising a young person with disability, you will be thinking about how to support and plan for their life after school.

Join ACD throughout August for A Good Life. This series of webinars is dedicated to helping you gain the skills and information to support and navigate your child's growing independence.

Each week, there will be a free online webinar where professionals with children with disability will share important information on four key topics:

Supported Decision Making - presented by the Council for Intellectual Disability.

Decisions vary depending on the person and their situation. They can be everyday choices or long-term goals.

Supported decision making is important for everyone. This webinar explains why it's important and how to support your young person to make their own decisions as they grow into adults.

Wills and Estate Planning - presented by Margaret Duncan, Principal Lawyer at Duncan.Legal

Planning for your child's future security is so important, but it can be overwhelming and something families often put off.

Margaret Duncan will guide you through the process of setting up a Will and Powers of Attorney.

Microboards - presented by Jaquie Mills, Managing Director of Microboards Australia.

A Microboard is a small group of people, usually family, friends, and others who care about your young person. They form a team to help them make choices, stay connected in their community, and safeguard the young person's quality of life.

Post-school: parents talk about what's next - hosted by Mandy Hose, former co-host of Too Peas In A Podcast.

Mandy and a panel of parents of young people with disability discuss the pathways and options they’ve each explored to create fulfilling and meaningful days for their children beyond school.

Hear how they’ve managed and planned their young person’s next life stage and get practical tips and ideas.
